Silence on the carrier is an open door. Not a metaphor — the previous operators worked it out empirically and left notes about it, and the notes are not reassuring.
Which is why the show runs long, why Jonah talks through the breaks, and why there is a reel cued at all times even when there is nothing worth playing.
